These graphs show numerical trends in total population change and the separate contribution of each component (natural increase/change and net migration) to that change, for each area. For total change, natural increase refers to the difference between births and deaths. For graphs by age, natural change refers to change in cohort size. The data to 2013 are drawn from the Royal Society Marsden project The ebbing of the human tide. What will it mean for the people? (project also known as Tai timu tangata. Taihoa e?) and converted for visualisation by the CaDDANZ Population Atlas research team. Data for the period 2013-2018 have been generated for the CaDDANZ project using the same methodology.
